| I was encouraged, that record numbers of people went out to vote this year. I am disheartened, though, because of the results. I am not sure if I am a dying breed of person, who votes for morals and logic, as opposed to emotion and hype. I don't want to sound like the guy who voted for the loser, and is now upset about it. I am just wondering at who actually did their homework before voting. If I voted for a candidate who had charisma but believed in socialistic policies, preached re-emergence of the country, and was an excellent communicator then I might have voted for Barack Obama - or Adolf Hitler. I am not trying to identify Obama with Hitler, but the rapid rise to power in economic hardships leaves me to wonder if history really does repeat itself.
(I do learn things in school) Addressing the economy, Bush economic policies are not flawed. He inherited a flawed system. After the Enron scandal the Sarbanes-Oxley act was passed, which tightened accounting practices and uncovered a lot of secrets of some large companies. Seven years later with stricter standards being enforced, we unearth the mortgage crisis. Banks giving risky customers loans with a higher interest rate, with the chance of not collecting the money back. Legislation was passed during the Carter (D) administration forcing banks to grant "The American Dream" to all Americans. During the next democratic Presidents reign Janet Reno threatened to take some of the banks that refused to make the risky loans to trial. Now these banks and financial institutions have been forced to make bad practices by a democratic policies, NOT BUSH POLICIES.
Also when I get a job next year, hopefully making a large amount of money, I will be getting taxed more so that those who are less fortunate can have money to live on. I got a better idea. Let's give some corporations incentives for staying in the US, Keep jobs here so that everyone who wants a job can get a job. Then there would be no excuse for welfare, except for the disabled. I work hard for my money, I don't agree with taxing me more because I work my butt off, just because someone is too lazy to go get a job.
I also am not a fan of the monopoly that has just been formed. We now will have a Democratic President, House, and Senate. The Judicial system is appointed so God knows what will happen with those positions. They could run the gammut and pass whatever partisan law they want and conservatives like myself can't do much about it.
I heard Obama talking about how we need a government run by the people. As I mentioned before, I am a dying breed. I am a conservative Christian man who has deep Biblical morals. There is not one person in Washington that will be my voice when I need it. My moral beliefs are unpopular, I know, and that is why no politician will vote for me. So when you say that the government will be run by the people, you mean it will be run by certain people. Those who support your cause, share liberal ideas, support more welfare, socialistic policies, etc... No one in Washington will vote for my causes.
I hope that Barack can actually live up to the hype that his campaign has created. He will have his work cut out for him though, his lack of experience, and a nation divided by a war, by divisive political campaigns, and economic status. If he does live up to his hype, I only wonder how long his policies will be successful. It took over twenty years for the Carter ploicies to bite us in the butt.
I always remember around elections, one of the most hated presidents ever turned out to be one of the greatest presidents. President Lincoln. I only hope that Bush can be remembered for the good things he accomplished, not the economic downturn that was thrown his way by prior presidential administrations. I honestly believe that approval ratings are based on the news shared by the media. People these days don't educate themselves, they just agree with whatever they are being told by the media. If they knew which proposals the President passed or Vetoed then they would know what moral stance he held firm throughout his tenure. Media only focuses on the negatives of the Bush era. Never the success stories. How is it we never here about 9-11 any more and the way Bush handled the whole situation. He unified this nation and brought us behind his cause to make sure we are never on the defensive again. I guess no one talks about that because he was brilliant during that time. The media only wants to talk about the bad things.

| I have been having these feelings that maybe everyone that i once thought of as a friend were just using me. I mean i had some friends back in High school that i would have said that we were really close. But now, where are they at? I mean i am accessible to them, i call them, but they just don't care about me anymore. I was a good friend to them in high school but now i can't be there friend. I don't understand why my friends have deserted me like this. I still have some friends still. In fact some have become closer now since leaving high school. But it bugs me about those i considered my best friends through... life really. Maybe it is a curse. If you become my best friend then 2 years down the road, we can no longer be friends. I don't feel like i am a bad friend to people. I mean i haven't stabbed any of my friends in the back... well since Junior High. I stick up for my friends when people are making fun of them. I kinda wished i had that extra person to talk to now about life issues. I have been bottling up all of these feelings and emotions that one day i will just explode on someone.... I mean let all of my emotions pour out, not start a mass murder. I have also thought about how long the friends i have now will even last. I feel that i have deep relationships with certain friends but how long will they be my friend? I guess this whole friend issue has made me a real cynic about the friends i have now. Maybe it is Paranoia and everyone is out to get me. They are, you know. I am just tired of letting people see my heart and then seeing that it is a 'disaster zone' and then leaving it to worsen. (disaster zone - Gordon Ramsey Quote) I watch good quality television. Well i guess only time will tell the quality of friends that i have. i sure hope that these friends are different from the High school friends that exclude me. | | |
| So now that school is in session, I understand that my paychecks will be smaller. But this year I actually have responsibilities on payments. I have a car payment and a mortgage. And on top of that, September is only going to have 1 full paycheck.... something about a 53rd week this year. I got a one week paycheck today. It went for new plates for my car. So well if you wanna go out and do something.... the answer is NO. ugh... Maybe if i could ever find a roommate it wouldn't be so bad. But without a roommate... i just don't know how this is going to work... I have some money saved up... for a honey moon. so I will most likely be dipping into those funds. I guess I am learning responsibility and i am learning another principle, everybody wants your money. It's true. People want your money. Ya, Free enterprise sucks butt. unless ofcourse it benefits me. but right now.... it sucks............... butt. Well i have nothing else to say... except that I need sleep. -PresS | | |
| One of my friends and I haven’t seen each other in months and I kept calling him. Finally I was invited to go to his bachelor party. At this bachelor party, I asked him why he never returned my calls. He told me that I just wasn’t as good of a friend as other guys. I was crushed. You know, that really is not my fault, I’ve been calling. I have tried to keep in contact. Granted, in HS I spent a lot of time with my g/f. But I still tried to do things with my friends. If you have a girl, then you know that most of the things you do have to be planned out in advance. I would get these phone calls to do things right then and there with my friends, all this after I had planned a date for my g/f and I. So I would have to decline their request. Now when I can do things, I am uninvited to them. I feel so alone right now. I have no close friends that call me a close friend. And I am trying to think about groomsmen for my wedding. I can’t think of one guy who I can call my best-man…. The one I thought would be my best-man…. Well, we aren’t good enough friends to have him call me back. I am so….Pissed at that comment. I have some regular friends… but no one friend to fit the title of Best-man. I wished I had a brother… because that is such a cop-out. I wouldn’t have to worry about best-man business… he would have that locked up. Anyways… I am done ranting for now… I know this sounds like on of those woe is me I am such a loser posts…. Well, that’s because it is. Sorry. -PresS | | |
| So Indiana has approved an increase of discharge of silt and amonia into Lake Michigan and includes expansion plan for the BP Refinery in Whiting. Politicians from Michigan and Illinois are jumping on the back of Gov. Daniels for his decision. Wait... let me see here.... gas is so expensive, because of a shortage of refineries in the midwest. So when an expansion plan comes to the table everyone is upset that they might send more toxins into the lake.... well duhhh....you can't have cheap gas without implecations in the environment. If the gov't steps in and takes back the right to expand, then we are moving more towards a socialistic society, where the gov't runs everything and controls the price we the consumers pay. Politicians who know nothing about economics should keep there minds about things that help the economy. To me the number one issue this next election is the economy. NOT the War. I want to make sure that I can get a job when i graduate from college. Cheaper gas would help significantly and i don't know why i am the only who sees this. I think those experts who are telling us about the shortage of refineries need to tell these politicians about that. Or maybe these politicians should turn on the TV and see these people talking... or have these politicians take a pay cut to see how costly gas really is. -PresS | | |
